For California Motorists:
The 2012 legislation season is starting in Sacramento, and on the State Senate’s agenda for tomorrow Wednesday Jan. 4 is an attempt to override Gov. Brown’s veto of SB 29. SB 29 is a bad bill and needs to stay vetoed, so TODAY is the time for you to call your your state senator and ask him or her to please vote against any attempt to revive SB 29.
(SB 29 was sold as “red light camera reform” while it actually would make things worse for motorists. For example, it reduces the number of warning signs, from four per intersection under current law, to just one or two. The bill also muddles the current law which gives the police only 15 days to get red light camera tickets into the mail. If the authors of this bill were really interested in reform, they would have done something about the fine for rolling right turns, or the 1.5 million cars with “protected plates.” But they did not.)
Much more info about SB 29 is at http://highwayrobbery.net/redlightcamsjoin.htm#SB29

P.S. It’s been more than two months since I sent out a legislative alert, and today’s should be the last one for a while. But if you do not want to receive any more of these alerts, just respond to this email with “REMOVE” at the beginning of the subject line, and I will take you off the list right away.
